can anyone help me with my chantal kelly collection? i need 'les roses de mon jardin' - anyone have it?
if anyone has - in return i'll get my ass in gear and burn then post her rarely heard songs 'la chanson du coucou' and 'biolou-biolou'.
when i found this picture of twiggy i had no choice but to share it with you. i was absolutely blown away by it. she has never looked more amazing than here. her sulky, almost upside down mouth, and iconic twig eyelashes - stunning.
i meant to post this a month or so ago just after i'd been to amsterdam as it was the song of the holiday - played at regular intervals by my husband. so this post is for him. because he is lovely.
molly drake is infact folk legend nick drakes mother (and sci-fi star gabrielle drakes mother for any u.f.o. fans out there). an album of her home made recordings of songs she wrote herself in the 50s/60s has recently been released. the songs are filled with a gentle, intimate sadness that give us a sense of what nick was brought up listening to. molly has a slightly plumby english singing voice yet many of her lyrics are melancholic and the result is curiously charming. i hope you enjoy it.
p.s. -how i wish nico had sung this song too
and here's vashti singing 'i remember' - a song written by molly
think post-disco, post-hi-nrg, more pop train than soul train and more usa than italo disco!

FRANCE GALL - SO EINEN JUNGEN MANN (1969)
massive thanks to vani for this and the next post - two new (to me anyway) german songs by fg. this is her version of the bossa nova classic (also done brilliantly by astrud gilberto) - summer samba/so nice
wow! the only way to get this song at the time was when you bought a bottle of 'black and white' whiskey!!! - you got it free with it! enjoy this wonderful song in both french and english from 1980
watch this francoise hardy special as she sings around london (in the freezing cold by the look of it). Some of it is amazing- some of it is an amazingly wasted opportunity - but it has a charm all its own. but francoise is wonderful - she even moves and 'dances'!!!
