i LOVE cloetta paris and miss her terribly. i LOVE sally shapiro and miss her already too. so it's amazing to find this original(?) demo(?) version of an early sally song.
who knew this clip existed? not me! such a classic italo disco track, but i just thought elena ferretti was just the voice behind rose - but here she is as the body too - well, i'm presuming it's her - it's a body at least! (in the days when a black leotard was considered a good enough stage costume!)
if you've worn out your copy of sally shapiros latest, or am missing cloetta paris too much - how about a bit of sandra to fill the gap? yes, 80's italo sounding/euro pop singer is back with a new album and she has retained her original sound - it's a pure celebration of italo marvellousness.
think post-disco, post-hi-nrg, more pop train than soul train and more usa than italo disco!
this mixtape is full of the early 80s new york disco madonna sound, everything from the 80's to now.
try it - you will love it!
includes - jellybean, annie, ronika, sally, cloetta, regina, shana, parralox, clio, tommy february6, the wonder girls, tom tom club, elisa and some amazing madonna demos
ROSE - MEMORIES
oh my god i love this too! (i have have a feeling this may become one of my all time faves!) what always especially hooks me into songs like this is the electro instrumental tune - here heard at 0.43mins onwards. another italian great from 88.
ROSE - FAIRY-TALE
if you know me by now, then you'll know i also love 80s europop - especially frenchpop and italo disco. i've just discovered this italian gem from 1985 this weekend and i can't stop playing it. it's up there with katy grey, vivien vee and valerie dore. go italy!
CLOETTA PARIS - BROKEN HEART TANGO
i can't believe i have only just discovered her! i was familiar with her song 'i miss you, someone' from a johan agebjorn mixtape (i think) but i had no idea about her wonderful album 'secret eyes' so massive thanks to scandipop for properly introducing her to me.
if you love sally shapiro, johan agebjorn, valerie dore and italo disco then you will absolutely love this. i can't recommend the album enough - check it out
what would have happened if amanda lear met the pet shop boys? surely it could only have sounded like fancy!
i have to confess that this year i fell under the spell of euro pop king (queen?) fancy. hailing from germany in the mid to late 80's, he is euro disco cheese mixed with italo disco.
