curiosity killed the donkey

if like me, you love 'les parapluies de cherbourg' and have enjoyed 'les demoiselles de rochefort' then it's probably worth checking out another deneuve, demy and legrand film called 'peau d'ane'. catherine plays a princess who disguises herself in a dead donkey skin (!) the film isn't actually that good but it's a curiosity worth checking out just for the songs.

I've read about this movie but never seen it and I'm really curious about it. Thanks for sharing the clip!

OH Mordi !
how can you not liek the movie !
i think it sone of the best of Jacques Demy, even better than the 2 more famous one.
It s both a childish fairy-tale and a nightmarish story about incestuous desires... Totaly dreamy-like !
The song of the Lilac Fairy when she explains why little girls can t marry their daddy is genuis .
The bird in the egg for the cake ? the giant white cat as a throne !
Awwwwww !!

If you want to see Demy's disaster check out : Parking , a re-interpretation of the myth of orpheus with francis Huster as a bisexual rock star ..totally dreadful ..excpet for teh first song !

I was lucky that a few years ago a theatre near me played a different demy film each night and I was able to see all three of the Deneuve films on the big screen. Theyre ten times better on the big screen!

Funny, I had just taken it home from the library when I saw this post! Finally watched it, it's pretty interesting. (I'm not a very big Demy fan, my favorite of the ones I've seen is probably Lola.)
