please leave comments and enjoy blowupdoll!
i like polnareff. i love sylvie. put them together and you get what must be one of my most favourite french songs ever. i'm so sad to find no video of her performing it :(
i've lots of doll related books so i thought a new feature i might add to blowupdoll is sharing them with you! this is a nice big book that is packed with reproductions of sylvies letters, postcards, tickets, souvenir programmes, sheet music, bob mackie costume sketches and a fridge magnet!
i bought it in la rochelle in a bargain bookshop for a great price and it was worth every penny.
SYLVIE VARTAN - LA CHANSON
nice to hear sylvie funking it up a bit - a harpsichord(?), an appearance of an electric guitar, a heavy beat and her passionate vocals make for a great tune
"i shall nver forget an uncomfortable dinner with the singer sylvie vartan who spent the entire evening in a terrible sulk. typically, (salvador) dali couldn't remember her name and addressed her as cecily bertrand. his trick was to keep the general gist of a name, while at the same time changing it completely."
i have to confess - i can't bear petula clark! or 'pet' as she thinks she's affectionately known in the uk - she thinks she's a british icon - she's not.
SYLVIE VARTAN - RENOWN darby sent me this a while ago - it's sylvie singing in japanese for a commercial for renown clothing. it makes a nice little edition to your vartan collection. check out the ad too!
SYLVIE VARTAN - BALLADE POUR UN SOURIRE this sweet song is co-written by j.m. riviere which is a name that seems to pop up many times on the credits on the back of records. he's also written for brigitte bardot, francosie hardy, france gall and dalida.
SYLVIE VARTAN - KOIBITO JIDAI
to finish off the extended japanese doll week, i had to share this wonderfully offensive picture of s.v. along with a japanese language song she recorded.
