molly drake is infact folk legend nick drakes mother (and sci-fi star gabrielle drakes mother for any u.f.o. fans out there). an album of her home made recordings of songs she wrote herself in the 50s/60s has recently been released. the songs are filled with a gentle, intimate sadness that give us a sense of what nick was brought up listening to. molly has a slightly plumby english singing voice yet many of her lyrics are melancholic and the result is curiously charming. i hope you enjoy it.
p.s. -how i wish nico had sung this song too

Wow, I had no idea. Really adds something to my picture of Nick Drake.

Isn't it wonderful? I came across this album by chance last month and was utterly enchanted.
