please leave comments and enjoy blowupdoll!
MADEMOISELLE M MIXTAPE - zip what an amazing start to the mixtapes. the gorgeous mademoiselle m whose website i absolutely adore has created this great mix of 60's french classics alongside some great k-pop. find out what goes on in mademoiselles mind here!
a few years ago i organised a mix-tape exchange for like minded blowupdoll fans. it worked really well and loads of new music was shared and discovered. it's how i discovered 'the name game', the emmanuelle theme and luna parker.
this year i would like to invite you to join in and make a mix-tape that i can post on blowupdoll. i know there are so many of you out there who suggest songs, leave comments and send me music and i 'd love to get you involved for this mixtape special!
all you need to do is make a zipfile that contains 10 - 12 songs. choose or create a picture cover, and write a brief introduction to your mixtape then email it to me- i am happy to host the zipfile and i will post it on here. if you have a blog, i will include a link to your site too.
your mixtape must be doll themed! it's ok to include songs posted on blowupdoll in the past, the songs can be in any language and from any era but they must have female vocalist and be aimed at the blowupdoll reader.
DO IT!
i look forward to hearing from you... (my email can be found just below my picture on the left!)
ok ok ok, so we all know this song. we surely must agree that it is the height of 80's french electropop. we must also agree that we are forever indebted to jacno for his part in it. now lets watch lio shake her head, swing from side to side in a sulky fashion in a short red leather skirt!
wow wow wow! a wonderful clip of claudine longet singing 'meditation' from the opening titles of 'run for your life'. it was this performance that got audiences interested which led to her recording career. go here for more claudine!
THE FOUR KING COUSINS - I FELL these four doris days in shift dresses released an amazingly psychedelic sunshine pop album in the late 60's. and the songs never fail to fill me with joy. i hope this brings you some happiness too.
watch this amazing clip from the raquel welch special from 1970 - firstly glorious in a red cape singing california dreaming then be prepared to be blown away by her groovy space age dance. wow!
LES PETITES SOURIS - CE N'EST PAS TRISTE this is my favourite song from the short lived les petites souris. this group also features blowupdoll icon pussycat on drums (not sure where she is in the picture- on the far left?)
CAROLINE - BACH ET JERK this song is slightly mental (just check out the random cover) but the contrast between classical and groovy works really well.
