BLOWUPDOLL EXCLUSIVE
LEONIE - LILITH

every once in a while a song comes along that blows my mind. this is one of them.
from sometime in the 70's, released on an obscure record label 'motors' on this lush track she sounds like an orgasmic jane birkin on helium - surely that's enough to tempt your interest?!

Hello, I find that she has sung in the soundtrack of "les gants blancs du diable" (the white gloves of devil ?) a strange film . The song is called "couleurs", find it on iTunes (in France) .
Nice blog with nice songs . Thanks

Jean-Claude Vannier released two singles with Leonie,a young singer JCV grromed to be his his 'Jane Birkin' post 'Melody Nelson'.
The track 'En Alabama' is a reworking of 'Je M'Appelle Geraldine' from the 'Point D'Interrogation' soundtrack EP (available as bonus tracks on the 'L'Enfant Assassin Des Mouches' CD)'.

Her other single with JCV 'Le Jardin Anglais' is a vocal version of 'Danse de L'Enfant et du Roi des Mouches' from the 'L'Enfant Assassin...'(AKA 'Insolitudes') LP.

I've been a little obsessed with this song, but have been having a hard time finding out more about her.
It's too bad the b-side is about john lennon, 'cause I hate the beatles so very much.
Anyway, I asked my friend Devon E. Levins (http://www.eastvillageradio.com/shows/djprofile.aspx?uid=224) to send me all the info on her as he could and Here's what he sent
"Her name is Leonie Lousseau, a French chantuese they were trying to make into a French yeah yeah girl like Francois Hardy.

# 1968, Je vais me faire un tour dans ma campagne
# 1973, Le jardin anglais
# 1973, Les gants blancs du diable
# 1974, En Alabama
# 1974, Motors
# 1975, So longs John

She had a small acting part in a film called Paul from 1969.

Karl Heinz Schafer was an German arranger for ballad singers like Salvatore Adamo and Charles Aznavour. He got into writing for film by ghost writing some music for Michel Magne soundtracks. (Mike Magne is known for Fantomas, Gigot, Emanuelle 4).
I am aware of only three soundtracks released for Schafer OSTs. The French crime film The White Gloves of the Devil (Les Gants Du Diable) is the best. There's actually an LP soundtrack (as well as the EP) which used to go for $800ish back the last time I ever checked which couldve been the early 2000's when ebay was new. Who knows what it's worth now. I have the MP3s for it but not the actual vinyl. Don't think I've ever seen the real vinyl for it but they reissued it on CD lately so there's new interest.

Karl Heinz Schafer was most closely associated with Laszio Szabo films such as the soundtrack for a French Dracula film which is equally as rare called La Grande Trouille Ou Tendre Dracula, Zig Zag, L'Empreinte des Géants, Extérieur Nuit, Polar. I only otherwise have Zig Zag which does not have Leonie on it. Don't know if the others do.

She also sings on some Christophe records.

cheers rob - that's briliant. between everyone, we seem to have collected a clear (but brief) history of her.

i don't like the beatles either - but don't let that ruin your enjoyment of the john lennon track!
