BRITT EKLAND (?) - WILLOWS SONGi'm not even 100% sure this is her singing because her 'acting' voice in the film is dubbed. who cares?! it's still ace. even in her nuddy dance scene some shots of her body were 'dubbed' as she was pregnant at the time! i couldn't not include this haunting track from this brit film classic with its folk soundtrack inspired by corn rigs, virgins and witchcraft!

The song was performed by either Rachel Verney or Leslie Mackie (like everything with 'The Wickerman' it's all a bit contentious) but definitely not by Britt. Bearing in mind that her speaking voice, singing voice AND portions of her body were dubbed, I expect it was the easiest job she ever had! Still, as you say, what does it matter now?

thanks for the info about the vocalist. either way, the song and entire wall slapping scene still rules!
(and not forgetting just how beautiful britt was before her hideous plastic surgery mistakes)

The first time I'd heard this song was when Milky (aka Momus' ex-wife) covered it on Vol.3 of the exquisite Songs for the Jet Set series; a couple of years later, I got round to finally seeing The Wicker Man. Yeah, I'm a slowcoach.
Great song. If Britt Ekland was dancing round in the nudey in the room next to mine, she'd have to have a Hand of Glory to keep me put, too. :-)

the version in the wicker man was definately sung by leslie mackie. the soundtrack was re-released a couple of years back with definitive versions of the songs backed up by definitive sleeve notes. i love the leslie mackie version, but the song itself is so good i've never heard a bad cover version and there's been covers by the likes of the mock turtles, sneaker pimps, isobel campbell and more recently the go! team. it;s always, always good to hear this song. cheers.
