FAITH BROWN - LOCK ME IN this is soooooo good. why wasn't she more successful as a singer? instead she became an unfunny busty comedienne who did appalling impressions of margaret thatcher. watch this hideously hilarious and offensive clip on youtube of faith brown in the 80's. but don't forget to enjoy this ace song!
ROSS HANNAMAN - I'LL GIVE ALL MY LOVE TO SOUTHEND a very early song written by tim rice and andrew lloyd webber from '67!! it's an odd little groover with seagulls and crashing waves. i'm pretty confident you'll all love it! a big thanks to marksy for all his ross encouragement!
CILLA BLACK - I'VE BEEN WRONG BEFORE this is amazing. before she became a champagne fag hag advertising life insurance on tv, she really had some top musical moments. lets appreciate this one!
VAL MCKENNA - HOUSE FOR SALE she looks tough, she sounds doll and is a 60's groover. enjoy this 'loverly' track. thanks to ever fabulous ready steady girls for the picture.
MARIANNE FAITHFULL - SISTER MORPHINE another themed week, another marianne song! it would be impossible to do a stones week without marianne. i've opted for this track (instead of as tears go by) since she co-wrote it with mick and keith.
BAMBOU - LULU
a song for the son they had together. the weirdest thing about this song is how she sounds exactly like charlotte gainsbourg when she 14!
MIREILLE DARC - HELICOPTERE i'm sure everyone must know this, but how could i not include it? it is so brilliant. (if anyone has any other md/sg tracks - please email me!)
NICO - STRIP TEASE
hurrah! i have another reason to post this superstar. this is the first song she ever recorded (in 63) but it didn't surface until 2001! worth the wait though.
DALIDA - JE PREFERE NATURELLEMENT i don't often have a reason to post any dalida tracks (except in 04), but since this week is about dolls singing serge gainsbourg songs - i finally have another reason. and i think you'll like it too!
wowsers: i would love to see this. it's a tv movie about dalidas life. watch the final scene from the film where she commits suicide. ghoulish, trashy, camp and very very sad.
BRITT EKLAND (?) - WILLOWS SONG i'm not even 100% sure this is her singing because her 'acting' voice in the film is dubbed. who cares?! it's still ace. even in her nuddy dance scene some shots of her body were 'dubbed' as she was pregnant at the time! i couldn't not include this haunting track from this brit film classic with its folk soundtrack inspired by corn rigs, virgins and witchcraft!
NICO - AFRAID this song helps to remind us of what a genuine talent she was. behind the drugs was a gorgeous voice that could break your heart...or make you want to hang yourself!
