SAMANTHA JONES - CHAINED TO A MEMORY
great stuff- but not sure who sang this first- dusty? everly brothers?
s.j. week - thursday
SAMANTHA JONES - JUST CALL AND I'LL BE THERE
quite a few versions of this early francoise hardy track were recorded in the 60's- this is definitely one of the best versions (with the exception of f.h.!)
s.j. week - wednesday
SAMANTHA JONES - UNTIL TOMORROW
what is so great about sam is how her voice sounds so different on every track- perhaps this is also the reason for her limited success. (she also looks different in every picture!)
read more about her at readysteadygirls
s.j. week - tuesday
SAMANTHA JONES - HOW DO YOU SAY GOODBYE
i can't believe sylvie never sang this- it is so dramatic and sad!
s.j. week - monday
SAMANTHA JONES - I GO TO SLEEP
a great version of the kinks classic from 1970
s.j. week - sunday
SAMANTHA JONES - NEVER MY LOVE
not the saucy whore from sex and the city but the lesser known 60's chick. once you hear her voice in the opening verse of this song you will be totally hooked- it 's brit chick marvyness.(all this weeks pictures from the unofficial sj website)
in no particular order: mordi's essential music of 2008
to celebrate the new year, i thought i'd share with you my essential albums of 2008 and share a song from each album too. did i miss any albums out?!
there was a lot to choose from, so i had to include some runners up too!
if you like any of these songs- go and buy the albums!
and thanks for all your lovely messages on my last post- they meant a lot to me.
happy new year everyone!
britney spears - if you seek amy - circus
britneys 'blackout' was also one of my albums of 2007. keep miming brit!
i thought this song had a really stupid title until it dawned on me, if you seek amy= f u c k me. billiant!
like a bastard mix of kylie, gwen and dragonette; lady gaga is all attitude and pop. there is every chance that she will be huge in 2009
thank god she's back - it might not be the best comeback album ever- but williams blood more than makes up for the weaker tracks on the album
girls aloud - love is pain - out of control
who would have thought that out of a tv reality show would come britains most amazing pop group ever? such a top album too. and i'm going to see them play at wembley in may!
honourable mentions must go to...
alesha dixon - the alesha show
alex beaupain - 33 tours
filles fragiles - volume 2
cyndi lauper - bring ya to the brink
madonna - hard candy
the saturdays - chasing lights
